Frequently Asked Questions:

1. I’m a new customer, how can I be sure I will receive an excellent service from Why Waste?

We began trading in 2007 and initially traded via an ebay shop. Within two years we gained power seller status and received in excess of 1200 positive feedbacks.  

2. How much is delivery?

Our standard delivery charge is £10.95 per package, although there are surcharges for certain areas of UK, i.e Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, London. Please check the postage zone table for exact rates.

3. How soon will I receive my order?

Orders are despatch the next working day following receipt of payment. Please allow 4 working days from date of ordering and receiving your purchase. Our courier delivers Monday to Friday.

4. I need a drum/container urgently?

We can offer a next day delivery service. Please contact our sales team at whywaste0@googlemail.com for exact delivery prices.   For example, if you placed an order on Monday this would be processed Monday evening and booked for collection on Tuesday. You would receive your order Wednesday.

5. Can you combine postage?

Although we cannot combine postage for small quantity orders because of weight/height restrictions we can offer a pallet rate service which can sometimes work out cheaper if purchasing 5+ large drums.  Please contact our sales team at whywaste0@googlemail.com for pallet rate charges.   Alternatively, we work alongside numerous haulage companies who can offer competitive delivery rates.   Please contact us for further information. 

6. Do I need to be at home to take delivery?

No, we have agreed with our courier drums/containers can be left without a signature provided there is a safe and secure place to leave (e.g. shed, back garden etc). We always advise our customers to leave a signed and dated note on their door with instructions on where the driver can leave your order. This will be used as proof of delivery. Please note orders are left at customers’ own risk. Why Waste cannot be held responsible for goods going missing.

7. I need a mixture of drums how would you work the postage out?

We always endeavour to save our customers money in postage charges. For example, if a customer wanted two large metal drums and a couple of small contained we could fit the smaller ones inside the large drums to cut the cost of postage. Please always check first before purchasing.

8.  Can you offer discounts on multiple purchases?

We can offer discounts depending on drum type and quantities.  Please contact us at whywaste0@googlemail.com or alternatively call Glenn on 07900 247 217 to discuss.

9. I need a regular supply of drums/containers, can you help?

Yes we can depending on drum types and quantities required. Please call Glenn on 07900 247 217 to discuss your requirements.

10. I need 20 – 150 drums, but pallet rates work out expensive, can you help?

Yes we can – not only do we have our own van and can deliver up to 25 drums we also use local haulage companies who have competitive rates.  Please email us at whywaste0@googlemail.com with your full delivery postage along with quantities required and we will endeavour to get the cheapest haulage quote for you.

11. I am a shipping agent and would like drums sent direct to my customers can you help?

We work with various shipping agents throughout the UK, whereby we despatch drums direct to your customers ready for the agent to collect once ready to be shipped abroad. 12. I would like to purchase a drum for a water butt – do you supply taps?

Yes we do supply taps. Please see taps choices available. We will despatch the tap with your drum. Please note it’s the customers’ responsibility to drill and fix and tap to the drum once received.

13. We have surplus/redundant equipment we no longer require, would Why Waste be interested in it?

We are always looking to source different products. Please contact Glenn on 07900 247 217 to discuss.

14. What’s previously been stores in the drums/containers?

The majority of our drums have previously contained a non-hazardous food grade product.  However, a few drum types have contained pharmaceutical products/water based UPVA glue please check item description before purchasing. Although all our drums are in “used” condition we endeavour to remove any excess residue left inside drums before we despatch.

15. What type of plastic are your drums made from?

The majority of our drums are made from HDPE. Please always check product description before purchasing.

16.  I'm not sure which drum type to purchase can I come and have a look first?

Of course.  Please contact Glenn on 07900 247 217 to arrange a convenient day/time to meet to ensure someone is around to meet you.

17.  Where are you based? 

Our storage site is at Ashley Park, Common Road, Witchford, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB6 2HZ

17. When are you open?

Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm

Weekends:  By appointment only.

18. Do you supply a VAT invoice?

A VAT invoice can be supplied upon request. Our VAT registration number is 929 1545 07

19. I don’t have a paypal account what other method of payment can I use?

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • Bank transfer (BACS)
  • Cash
  • Cheque
  • Postal Orders
  • Paypal
  • Credit/Debit cards.   Please call 07900 247 217 should you wish to pay by this method.

Please note orders cannot be processed until full payment is received.

20. I emailed / telephoned but didn’t get a response?

We are often in areas with poor signal.  If you can leave a voicemail we will endeavour to call you back as soon as we are available.  Alternatively, please feel free to email us at whywaste0@googlemail.com and we will endeavour to respond ASAP.  Emails are monitored regularly.  We aim to respond to all email enquiries within 24 hours of receipt.
